Why a Whole-Home Valuation
Most household policies impose single-item limits. Most insurers now require professional valuations for any item over a specific threshold — commonly £10,000 to £15,000.
A comprehensive home contents valuation ensures every qualifying item is properly scheduled, correctly insured, and supported by formal documentation. It also creates a clean inventory that's invaluable for estate planning, family records, and any future claim.
How It Works
An initial conversation
Call us on 0207 242 9933 or submit an enquiry and tell us roughly what the house holds — categories, approximate numbers, anything unusual. We'll tell you what the visit is likely to involve and how long it should take.
The visit
A senior valuer attends your home. Items are examined, measured, photographed and recorded in place. Nothing needs to be sent anywhere and nothing leaves the property. Where a category calls for specialist input — fine art, Asian jewellery, wine — we bring in the relevant specialist rather than generalising.
Your report
A full itemised schedule, individually described and valued, with photographs throughout. Issued as a PDF, with printed originals available for probate or legal use.
Keeping it current
We hold your schedule on file. Updates are £35 per item, so a review in three years costs a fraction of starting again.
Frequently asked questions
Home visits are £195 per hour, covering time on site and the preparation of your report. Because every household is different, we give you an estimated range after an initial conversation rather than quoting blind.
Anywhere from two hours to a full day, depending on the number of items and how much documentation exists already. Having receipts, certificates and previous valuations to hand makes the visit considerably quicker.
No. Everything is examined, photographed and recorded in place. Nothing is taken away and nothing is posted anywhere.
Our focus is high-value and specialist items — jewellery, watches, art, antiques, silver, designer accessories. General furniture and everyday household goods are usually covered adequately by your policy's overall contents sum and don't need individual specification. We'll advise on where the line sits for your policy.
Our valuations are produced to the standards insurers and brokers expect and are accepted by every major UK insurer. If your insurer or broker has specific requirements, send them to us beforehand and we'll work to them.
Yes, though the figures differ. Insurance valuations reflect replacement cost; probate and matrimonial valuations use open market value, which is typically lower. Tell us the purpose before we start — using the wrong basis creates problems later.
Every three years as a general rule, and sooner after a significant purchase, inheritance or a sharp movement in gold or watch prices. Updates to an existing schedule are £35 per item.
Regularly. We work directly with HNW insurers, brokers and family offices, and can liaise with your broker throughout if you'd prefer we deal with them directly.
