Jewellery Repair in London by Hatton Garden Specialists
Our jewellery repair service draws on the same Hatton Garden craftsmanship that underpins our bespoke and valuation work. From routine cleaning and polishing through to complex antique restoration, we handle every category of jewellery repair in-house — under the same roof as our valuers.
If you'd like, we can value the piece at the same time. That way, you have a current insurance valuation for the item once it's back to its best.

Antique and Heirloom Restoration
Older and antique pieces require specialist hands. Our master craftsmen have decades of experience working with Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and mid-century jewellery — preserving original character and craftsmanship while making the piece safe and wearable again.
If a piece has significant age or sentimental value, we'll always discuss the approach with you before any work begins. There are usually several options. We'll explain them properly.
How It Works
-
1
Assessment
Bring the piece to our Hatton Garden office. A craftsman examines it and talks you through the options. No appointment needed for straightforward repairs, though it's worth booking for antique and heirloom work.
-
2
Written Estimate
You receive a clear estimate before any work begins. If we find anything unexpected once work is underway, we stop and speak to you first.
-
3
Repair
Your piece is worked on in Hatton Garden. Simple repairs such as resizing and clasp replacement are often completed within a few days. Antique restoration takes longer and depends on the piece.
-
4
Inspection & Collection
Every repair is inspected before it goes back to you. If you'd like an updated insurance valuation, we can produce one at collection.
Why Repair With Prestige
Most high street jewellers don't repair on site. Your piece is packaged up and sent to a trade workshop, often several counties away, and you have no visibility of who is handling it or how.
Our repairs are carried out by master craftsmen in Hatton Garden, in the same building as our valuation practice. Nothing gets posted around the country. For higher-value and sentimental pieces, you can discuss the work directly with the person doing it.
Because we're a valuation house first, we also have no incentive to over-specify work. If a piece needs a light polish rather than a full restoration, that's what we'll tell you.
Frequently asked questions
It depends entirely on the piece and the work needed. Ring resizing and clasp replacement are at the simpler end; antique restoration and stone replacement vary considerably. We assess the piece and give you a written estimate before committing to anything.
Straightforward repairs such as resizing, polishing and clasp replacement are typically turned around within a few working days. Antique restoration and stone sourcing take longer — we'll give you a realistic timeline at the assessment stage.
Most rings can be resized, but there are exceptions — full eternity rings, rings with channel-set or tension-set stones, and some antique pieces. We'll tell you honestly at assessment whether resizing is advisable or whether an alternative approach is better.
Yes. We can source a matching diamond or coloured stone to the original specification, or discuss alternatives if an exact match isn't available. Our access to the Hatton Garden stone trade means matching is usually possible.
Yes. Our craftsmen work regularly with Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and mid-century pieces. With antique work the priority is preserving original character, so we always discuss the approach with you before starting.
It can. Significant work such as stone replacement or restoration may change the replacement value of the piece. We recommend updating your valuation after any substantial repair, which we can do at collection.
