Our online valuation service works well for straightforward, clearly documented pieces, and for many clients it's the right choice. A postal valuation exists for the cases where photographs aren't enough.
A physical inspection lets a valuer weigh the piece, measure and grade the stones under a loupe, examine hallmarks and maker's marks directly, and assess condition properly — including the parts of a setting a photograph will never show. For high-value pieces, unsigned or unhallmarked items, coloured stones, and anything where the difference between two grades is a meaningful sum of money, physical inspection is the only defensible way to value it.
If you're unsure which service suits your piece, call us on 0207 242 9933 before arranging anything. We'd rather point you to the cheaper option than sell you the wrong one.
