Why You Need a Professional Jewellery Valuation
Most insurance policies require an independent professional valuation before high-value jewellery can be properly scheduled. Without one, claims can be delayed, reduced, or declined entirely.
Around three in four claimants discover at the worst possible moment that their jewellery was underinsured — often by significant margins. A Prestige valuation gives you a clear, evidence-based replacement value, supported by photographs, distinguishing features and full technical detail for every item. If anything is ever lost, stolen or damaged, your claim is faster, simpler, and more likely to be settled in full.
Valuations are also routinely required for probate and HMRC, family division during divorce, private sale, and inheritance planning. A professional valuation is the document that lets you act with confidence in any of these situations.
Fixed Fees, Not Percentages
Many jewellers and valuers charge a percentage of the item's value. For a single high-value piece, that can run to thousands of pounds — and often involves leaving your jewellery with them for weeks. We don't work that way.
Fixed fee per item
We charge a simple fixed fee per item, agreed before you commit.
Keep your jewellery
Your jewellery never needs to leave your possession overnight.
Truly independent
Because the fee is fixed, the valuation is genuinely independent of the value being assigned.
Trusted by Every Major UK Insurer
Our valuation reports are accepted by Hiscox, Aviva, Allianz, Chubb, AIG and every other major UK insurer. We work directly with brokers, claims specialists and private client advisors across the country — and have done for over 35 years.
Revaluation
Gold prices move. Diamond markets shift. Luxury watch values change constantly. An out-of-date valuation can leave you significantly underinsured at exactly the moment you can least afford it.
Once a Prestige valuation is on file, we can update the replacement value on a biannual basis without needing to see the item again. The original valuation contains everything we need. Revaluation costs from £25 per item, and with your approval we'll notify your insurer of the updated figure directly. No further appointments. No fuss.

Online valuations are typically returned within one to four working days. Office valuations are produced on the spot, usually within the same visit.
Most major UK insurers accept our online valuations for insurance scheduling. Acceptance ultimately remains at the discretion of the individual insurance provider — but we have not had a Prestige online valuation refused by a mainstream UK insurer in many years.
Yes. HMRC and most solicitors require an independent professional valuation for jewellery and high-value items as part of probate. We produce HMRC-compliant probate valuations regularly.
Every year is standard. Gold and diamond markets move constantly, and an out-of-date valuation can leave you underinsured. We offer a simple biannual revaluation service from £25 per item.
In the UK they're used interchangeably. Both refer to a professional written report establishing a replacement value for insurance, probate or resale purposes.
